How religion impacted celebrations
In ancient Rome some celebrations surprisingly were actually fairly similar to the ones we have today for example on birthdays they would have a ‘party’ and would drink wine or beer and dance although they did do some rather different activities that relate to their gods and religion because they would hold group worships where they would worship their gods and have offerings. They would have preyers to also worship their gods and would thank them for the year they have given them. Although there are also many celebrations that are quite different to the modern ones we have today fro example weddings. In a wedding in ancient Rome the bride and groom would sit cross legged across from each other and sacrifice a lamb so they may please the gods and have a religiously blessed marriage. In ancient Rome they also had a special festival fro when a boy reached adulthood, They would have a fiesta in honor of the god bacchus who is the god of law and wine and they would have an intoxicated party to celebrate.
